Vacancy - International Federation Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC)

International Federation Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) on behalf of American Red Cross Tsunami Recovery Program (TRP) had been established to direct the organization’s response to the South Asia tsunami disaster. The TRP activities focus on integrated community recovery and preparedness interventions in tsunami affected countries in Asia and East Africa in collaboration with Red Cross and non-Red Cross partners. The Indonesia TRP Delegation operates from offices in Banda Aceh, Calang, Lamno
with liaison office in Jakarta. We are currently seeking for the following positions to be based in Calang with 6 months fixed term contract:


Senior Engineering Officer (2 positions)

Your main responsibilities are to conduct daily inspections of construction process to ensure proper and appropriate construction practice and that all work is in complete compliance with the drawings and specifications, ensure that quality assurance system of the project is completed and that documentation is provided for all activities, report and document any reasons for variations from designs when found/suspected, report any incorrect constructions practices, conduct functional assessment of sanitation systems, and assist the training of the village WatSan committee in operation and maintenance of their water supply. S/he will also implement quantity survey for materials required, stored and consumed and ensure accurate documentation exists. S/he will also maintain good relationship with partner PNS, NGOs, PMI, village heads, WatSan committees and local government officers and ensure that projects are implemented in aconsultative, participatory manner, with gender sensitivity, demand responsive and poverty sensitive approach.

This post will report directly to Engineering Manager. The suitable candidate should have at least a graduate degree in civil engineering or related discipline with minimum of three years of experience in WatSan projects, fluency in Bahasa and English and commitment to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement

Engineering Manager (1 position)

Your main responsibilities are to assist Watsan Coordinator in producing a practical
and efficient mechanism for Quality Assurance (QA) during construction activities, training engineers and site supervisors in the QA system, lead technical team in conducting assessments for any new, conduct site visits at least two days a week and monitor construction and documentation of Quality Assurance activities, manage functional evaluations of sanitation systems identified by community team as having problems, lead technical team in designing small scale interventions to protect ARC’s WatSan infrastructure including connection of wetlands to drains and other household scale work.

S/he will also work closely with construction contractors to assure that works are implemented on time and in accordance with contract agreements and conduct onsite coordination with public work and other government institutions related to ARC WatSan work and develop all designs and implementation activities ensuring that the framework of Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is fully respected.

This post will report directly to WatSan Coordinator. The suitable candidate should have at least a graduate degree in civil engineering or related discipline with minimum of five years of experience in WatSan projects, fluency in Bahasa and English and commitment to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
