Senior Program Officer, International Religious Freedom
, founded in 1941, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the promotion of freedom around the world through its analysis, advocacy, and action. Freedom House provides direct support to frontline and civic activists to advocate for increased freedoms, raise awareness and mobilize their fellow citizens around fundamental rights and peaceful political change.
Freedom House seeks a Senior Program Officer (SPO) to manage the start-up and implementation of its new International Religious Freedom Consortium.
Direct the day-to-day operations of all project activities and coordination with our Consortium partners- the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and the Media Diversity Institute.
Coordinate the start-up of a Freedom House in-country presence in Indonesia and religious freedom workshops in the Middle East and Indonesia, serve as a Freedom House trainer on religious freedom advocacy.
Assist in developing a network of in-country religious freedom advocates, experts, and partners.
Monitor and evaluate project activities, budget and expenditures.
Liaise with Freedom House's advocacy team to ensure that violations of international religious freedom are publicized through a range of tools including press releases and meetings with relevant members of Congress.
Ensure long-term sustainability of the project by seeking additional grants and/or funding.
Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in international religious freedom and/or human rights and a Master or Law degree is preferred.
Extensive contacts with both secular and faith-based groups around the world committed to promoting international religious freedom issues and freedom of expression issues.
Must have experience in human rights advocacy, coalition building, program design and implementation for programs funded by U.S. government and/or private foundations.
