NGO Vacancy - SERASI : Senior Accountant

SERASI is a USAID funded project which supports Indonesia’s continuing evolution into a peaceful, just and democratic nation with respect for pluralism and protection of human rights for all citizens, accomplished through rapid and flexible programmatic, administrative and logistical support for USAID’s strategic grants and technical assistance program to mitigate social conflict and support peacebuilding initiatives nationwide. Our program currently includes activities planned for Aceh, Papua, Sulawesi , and the Malukus. SERASI is implemented by the International Relief and Develop (IRD), an international non-profit organization in Indonesia . SERASI seeks individuals for the position of :

Title : SERASI Senior Accountant
Department : Finance
Supervisor : Finance Manager
Location : Jakarta

General Description of Role :
The Senior Accountant is perform general accounting and financial reporting SERASI Jakarta & Field Office and for ensuring the application of principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information. In addition, the Senior Accountant will manage all bookkeeping, bank accounts and cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for effective and efficient implementation.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure expenses are in accordance with U.S. government regulations (expenses are reasonable, allowable and allocable), IRD policy and guidance. Ensure that all project-related transactions are conducted, processed and recorded as stipulated by the system.

Ensure transparent and accountable preparation of all financial statements.
Ensure transparent and accountable preparation of detailed account analyses.
Ensures accurate and timely preparation of payrolls, maintenance of payroll accounts and payment of payroll taxes and related liabilities.
Coordinates transparent and accountable processing of accounts payable and receivable including implementing effective monitoring, verification and coding procedures to ensure accuracy.
Performs various general accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliation and special report.
Maintenance of accounting records.
Establish, maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures
Budget management and control for expenditure including travel budgets and insures they implementation in accordance with the budgets.
Coordinate and support Program Managers and Senior Managers in preparing budgets and financial information needed for accountable and transparent project fundraising and implementation.
Prepare and submit financial report to Finance Manager and Grants Implementation teams as required.
Monitor cash advances for Grants implementation.
Other operations, management and administrative tasks consistent with the overall scope of this position and any other duties as directed by COP/DCOP.

Required Qualification:
Minimum of 3 years experience in an equivalent position and strong accounting background. University degree in accounting, Experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software is preferred. Experience working in a similar position in an NGO or an international organization is preferred.
Additional Skills:
- Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Able to communicate fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues.
- Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
- Must also be able to create a supportive working relationship among all project teams.

General Requirements:
Must have a willingness to travel to SERASI field offices for business purposes. Must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
